Privacy Policy
What we collect when you book a cab with us, why we need it, who else sees it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

Who We Are
A1 Cabs is the trading name of A1 GP Cabs Ltd, a taxi company licensed by the City of Grande Prairie and operating in Grande Prairie, Alberta and the surrounding Peace Country. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
- A1 GP Cabs Ltd
- 9074 81 Ave, Grande Prairie, AB T8X 0P2, Canada
- Phone: 780 518 3503
- Email: admin@a1cabs.ca
What We Collect
We collect only what we need to send a car to the right place and get you where you are going.
- Your name, so the driver knows who they are picking up.
- Your mobile number, so the driver and dispatch can reach you and so we can text you about the ride.
- Pickup and drop-off addresses, including any note you add about where to find you.
- Booking history — the trips you have taken with us, when, and what they cost.
- Payment details, processed by our payment provider. Where you pay by card, the card details are handled by that provider; we do not store your full card number. Drivers may also take payment in the car on their own card terminal.
- Call recordings. Calls to A1 Cabs are recorded for training and safety.
Why We Collect It
- To dispatch a taxi to you and complete your trip.
- To keep you informed about your ride — confirming the booking, telling you the driver is on the way, and telling you when they have arrived.
- To take payment for the fare.
- To resolve disputes, investigate complaints, return lost property, and deal with anything affecting the safety of passengers or drivers.
- To meet our obligations as a licensed vehicle-for-hire operator and to keep the business records the law requires us to keep.
Text Messages and Your Mobile Number
When you give us your mobile number to make a booking, we use it to text you about that booking — a confirmation, driver updates, and a link to pay your fare. You can stop those messages at any time by replying STOP.
Mobile information collected for text messaging will not be sold, rented, or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text message originator opt-in data is not shared with any third parties.
Full details of the messaging programme — what we send, how often, and how to stop or get help — are set out in our Terms.
Who Else Sees Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. It is shared only with the people and services needed to deliver the ride you asked for:
- Our dispatch software provider, which runs the system our office uses to take bookings, price trips and assign drivers.
- Our payment processor, which handles card payments and payment links.
- The driver assigned to your ride, who sees your name, number, and pickup and drop-off addresses so they can carry out the job.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it — for example to the City of Grande Prairie as our licensing authority, to law enforcement acting under lawful authority, or where it is needed to protect someone's safety.
How Long We Keep It
- Bookings, trip records and payment records are kept for seven years. Records of a completed transaction have to be retained for Canadian tax and business-record purposes.
- Call recordings are deleted on a set retention schedule: recordings are held for 30 days and then deleted automatically, unless one is being kept because it is part of an open complaint, insurance claim or safety investigation.
Your Rights
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
- Correct anything we hold that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete what we hold, where we are not required to keep it for the legal and record-keeping reasons set out above.
- Stop sending you text messages — reply STOP, or ask us directly.
Email admin@a1cabs.ca and tell us what you would like us to do. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we act, so that we are not handing someone else's booking history to the wrong person. If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your request, you can raise it with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
How We Protect It
Access to booking records and call recordings is limited to office staff and drivers who need them to do their job. Our dispatch system and this website are accessed over encrypted connections, and payment card details are handled by our payment provider rather than stored by us.
Canadian Privacy Law
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). That means we collect information for stated purposes, use it only for those purposes, keep it accurate and secure, and give you access to it on request.
Changes to This Policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Questions about anything on this page can go to admin@a1cabs.ca or 780 518 3503.
